The 2nd Annual Cannonball Memorial Run is Underway

The 2017 Cannonball Memorial Run began Thursday September 28, 2017 at 8:30am as it departed from Santa Monica Pier led by a Motor escort comprised of Motor Officers coordinated by Torrance Police. Santa Monica Police, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Carlsbad Police, Whittier Police, Hawthorne Police and Redondo Beach all were there for the start. A beautiful rendition of Taps was performed by Gabriel “The Gun” Gonzalez of No Doubt and law enforcement trainer. The crew includes six sergeants from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and two medically retired officers, one sergeant from San Diego Police Department and one former Cannonball world record holder and the current world record holder.

The crew has already completed six stops and delivered plaques honoring Whittier Police Officer Keith Wayne Boyer, Navajo Police Officer Houston James Largo, Logan County Sheriff’s Deputy David Wade, Tecumseh Police Officer Justin Terney, Little Elm Police Officer Jerry Ronald Walker and Harris County Constable Assistant Chief Deputy Clinton Greenwood plus a stop at Dallas Police Department as part of a commitment made last year to make Dallas PD a stop every year in honor of the four Dallas PD officers and one DART Police officer killed in the 2nd largest loss of law enforcement officers next to 9/11.

The crew is committed to honoring our fallen brothers and sisters and is streaming each stop live via our Facebook page Cannonball Memorial on Facebook

We also have a dedicated crew of four Carroll County, NH officers whom are making stops honoring fallen officers along the North Atlantic route. They have made five stops honoring New York State Trooper Joel R. Davis, Pennslyvania State Trooper Landon Eugene Weaver, New York Police Detectives Steven McDonald and Miosotis Familia, Delaware Department of Corrections Lieutenant Steven Floyd and Delaware State Police Corporal Stephen J. Ballard.

Both crews will be meeting in Georgia and completing the remaining drive and stops together. Keep checking in on Facebook and you can see our social media feeds right here on the site under the Social Media tab.
